TEST BATCH -- Wench Bodice -- Size S/M -- Turquoise/Gold Medallion Chenille Damask
The Wench Bodice is quite literally the very first thing I ever made as a professional costume designer, originating way back in 2001. I'm resurrecting my old patterns, and revamping them a little to fit my evolved aesthetic. This is a classic bodice design. No curved seams, no added laces, no frills. Just a simple conical silhouette with front laces, double boned on either side of the grommets with 1/2" wide flat high carbon spring steel. Each bodice is made reversible. This one is turquoise/gold medallion chenille damask on the main side and a gold geometric jacquard on the reverse (to reverse, you will need to remove the tag with a seam ripper, which is easy to do. It laces up with black polypro corset lacing through brass grommets. Dry clean only.
This particular Wench Bodice is approximately a size S/M. I used to size these by bust measurement of the bodice, but I think that will get too confusing since corset sizes also go by a number size. I'm working out how best to match this up on a size chart. Measurements of the actual garment are as follows:
Bust 31.25"
Waist 26.25"
Shoulder to Waist in Front 15.5"
Shoulder to Waist in Back 15.5"
Center Front Lacing Length 11"
Side Length 7.25"
For fit, I generally recommend you be 3-4" larger than the bodice's measurement in the bust and between an inch smaller and an inch larger than the bodice in the waist (remember, you'll have skirt waistbands beneath it, which will add size). For reference, photo model is 26.5" waist/33" bust. It was not snug at all.
